A defined medicine rather than a custom blend
TRI-LUMA combines a corticosteroid, a pigment-directed ingredient and a retinoid in fixed concentrations. The current label identifies its indication as short-term treatment of moderate to severe facial melasma, alongside sun avoidance and sunscreen.[source]
The fixed label gives clinicians and readers a precise reference. It does not mean any cream containing hydroquinone or three active ingredients is equivalent. Formulation and indication remain product-specific.
The maintenance and population limits matter
The label says TRI-LUMA is not indicated for maintenance treatment. It also identifies missing safety and efficacy study data in Fitzpatrick skin types V and VI and for other hyperpigmentation conditions.[source]
These limitations deserve discussion rather than being hidden below an attractive before-and-after photo. The full prescribing information includes important warnings, including pregnancy-related concerns and reactions requiring medical attention.
Plan the course and what comes afterward
Ask the prescriber how treatment success will be judged, what changes need contact and what the plan will be after the prescribed course. Do not extend treatment independently because a tube remains.
The purchase price should come from the dispensing pharmacy for the actual prescription. An appointment charge and insurance conditions are separate budgeting questions. This review explains a labeled option; it does not decide that this medicine is appropriate for a particular person or claim that approval guarantees clearance.
